Yesterday, I sent out a request to see if anyone knew of a surveyor that would be generous enough to donate their time and services for the park. While I waited I sent out emails to several companies asking for help.
I had no idea how much help he was offering or what he could do. He said he would meet us at East Side today and he would bring a surveyor.
It turns out Mike Maloney, and MSA Professional Services, are be willing to help us from start to finish on a number of things we will need to build the park. AMAZING! What luck!
Mike and his surveyor, Brad Tisdale, arrived and began plotting out the proposed location based on what Jennie and I envision. They were so generous with their time and we are so very grateful. If you need engineering services PLEASE call them.
Brad Tisdale -Hard at work on a Saturday! Thanks Brad! |
I took some pictures of the park and of Brad and Mike surveying the land. Pretty exciting stuff!
Jennie Masten and Mike Maloney talking about how amazing the park, your park, is going to be! |
We also talked to a few neighbors who were understandably curious. We were anxious to talk with them because a park of this nature will definitely increase the traffic around their houses and we wanted to hear their concerns.
They we definitely concerned about the speeding that exists on the street already and were concerned about more traffic combined with speeding. It was brought up if perhaps the speed limit could be lowered to 15 on the stretch of street adjacent to the park. We said we would bring it up.
Another neighbor was concerned about people using the park after dark or a bad influence hanging out in the park. We talked about that and it is our hope that the park is used so much that there isn't opportunity for it to be used in a bad way. We said we would talk about the after hours usage with the city and see if there was a way to enforce the operation times.
Other than that they seemed genuinely excited and one neighbor requested a band shelter be added. We said we would look into it.
Everyone has the opportunity to voice their concerns, share their ideas, or volunteer on Wednesday, October 5th, from 6pm-8pm at the Stoughton Fire Station Meeting room.
See you then!
